The Knowledge Validation Questionnaire (KVQ) is a mandatory requirement for maintaining the certification of Range Officers with the Fédération québécoise de tir (FQT).
Beginning in July 2026, all Range Officers must successfully complete the KVQ once every year to maintain their certification. The questionnaire consists of 25 questions and is designed to confirm that Range Officers remain active in their duties and continue to understand the current rules and procedures.
You will automatically receive a reminder email one month before your Range Officer Certification Card expires. The email will include a button providing direct access to the Knowledge Validation Questionnaire.
The KVQ is completely FREE, but successfully passing it is MANDATORY in order to maintain an FQT-recognized Range Officer certification.
Profile Update
Once you successfully complete the questionnaire, your profile on the FQT website will be updated automatically.
You will then have access to:
- your FQT Membership Card (if you are an FQT member);
- your Range Officer Certification Card, confirming that your certification is valid.
If you are not an FQT member, your Range Officer Certification Card, as well as the “Range Officer” section of your profile, will indicate that you are not covered by the insurance program offered to FQT members. You will also be invited to become an FQT member to enjoy all the benefits of membership.
Transition Period
To facilitate the implementation of this new process, a transition period will be in effect during the first year.
All Range Officers will have until December 31, 2026, to successfully complete their first Knowledge Validation Questionnaire.
Example: If you successfully complete your KVQ on September 25, 2026, your certification will remain valid until December 31, 2027.
Beginning in 2027, the questionnaire must be successfully completed during the month preceding the expiration date of your Range Officer Certification Card to ensure uninterrupted renewal of your certification.
Changes to Certification Cards
Beginning in July 2026, the designation “Range Officer” will no longer appear on the FQT Membership Card.
Official proof of your certification will now be your Range Officer Certification Card, available in your profile on the FQT website immediately after successfully completing the Knowledge Validation Questionnaire.
